Through the blog and videos, my mission is to give you the clarity, courage, skills, and the accountability & commitment you need to succeed – in a pub and in life….Andy
I started in pubs in 1986 with absolutely no idea what I was doing, at the time I was a trainee pub manager working as an assistant manager at the Gate inn in Brailes, the guy I worked for asked me over for a meeting and told me that he was unhappy with the management couple who were running the pub, and would I like to run it, I accepted the offer straight away and started running my first pub, in those days it was all booze and a few snacks at lunchtime, my customers were holding their pints up and asking what was wrong with the beer, “whats wrong with it” I replied, Hook Norton beer shouldn’t look like that I was told, and that was my first week running a pub. Then I read in the Morning Advertiser that a publican not too far away had won the best pint in the UK, so I called him and drove over to his pub and asked him to show me how to look after beer. There was no such thing as the internet in those days and no review sites, so I was quite lucky in one way, but it did teach me to listen to the customer and find a solution. Over the years and to this day, things go wrong in pubs and you have to think on your feet and find the answers quick, hopefully, I can help out with this website and give you some of the answers you are looking for on your journey.
